The size range of C54400 copper bars varies depending on the processing method, and is mainly divided into the following categories:
Cold-drawn bars: diameter φ1–20mm, high precision, smooth surface.
Hot-rolled bars: diameter φ20–300mm, some suppliers can provide black skin bars (unfinished) of φ50–800mm.
Polished bars: φ60–800mm, surface treated to meet precision requirements.
Spot bars: Common diameters cover 3–300mm, and lengths can reach 5000mm. There are also special specifications such as hexagonal bars, square bars, etc., with a diameter range of 1.0–150mm.

The main components of C54400 are copper as the base, with elements such as tin, lead, zinc and phosphorus added. The specific ranges are as follows:
Copper (Cu): balance (usually accounting for about 87%-89%).
Tin (Sn): 3.5%-4.5% (some documents extend to 3.0%-5.0%).
Lead (Pb): 3.4%-4.5% (key element, improving cutting performance).

Processing performance
Cold workability: Excellent, suitable for stamping, bending and other processes, but the lead content limits deep drawing.
Hot workability: Not recommended, because lead may cause hot brittleness.

Excellent performance in seawater, atmosphere and acid and alkali environment, suitable for marine engineering.

C54400 copper rod is a lead-containing free-cutting phosphor bronze alloy. Its production process and product advantages are as follows:
1. Production process
Smelting and continuous casting
Using scrap brass, scrap copper and zinc ingots as raw materials, they are smelted in an industrial frequency furnace and then enter the continuous casting stage. Lead (3.5%~4.5%), tin, phosphorus and other alloy elements need to be added during the smelting process to optimize performance. The smoke and slag generated by smelting need to be treated for environmental protection. After continuous casting, copper rod billets are formed, and the temperature is controlled by a cooling circulating water system.
2. Hot extrusion and stretching
The copper billet can be greatly improved in density and strength by hot extrusion processing (such as 38MN reverse extruder). Modern processes use short-process technology, such as continuous extrusion of copper wire rods, to reduce production steps and improve the level of automation, and the yield rate is significantly improved. Some companies also combine processes such as skinning and annealing to improve surface finish and mechanical properties.
Precision machining
Subsequent steps include stamping, lathe processing, grinding and cleaning. The stamping process uses mold forming, lathe processing can achieve high-precision cutting, and scraps can be recycled. Modern equipment such as CNC lathes can meet the fine processing needs of complex parts.

The lead content is as high as 3.5%~4.5%, and the cutting performance is 4 times that of ordinary tin phosphor bronze. It is suitable for high-speed precision processing and has a high surface finish.
Excellent mechanical properties
The tensile strength can reach 275~450MPa (depending on the heat treatment state), and the hardness range is HRB 7~50, with both high strength and ductility. After annealing, the elongation is increased to more than 10%, which is suitable for heavy load and wear-resistant scenes.
Wear resistance and corrosion resistance
Phosphorus improves wear resistance and is suitable for transmission parts such as bearings, gears, and shafts. The resistance to seawater and chemical corrosion makes it outstanding in the fields of marine engineering and chemical industry.
Good processing adaptability
